This decision is based on the recommendation of the Governor of Florida to cancel or postpone all mass gatherings in the state and in conjunction with our medical director and supporting hospital. We believe the decision to cancel the event is in the best interest of the health and welfare of the larger community. Unfortunately due to the complexity of this event, permitting, scheduling of facilities, and closures of roadways we are unable to reschedule this year's event. Cancelling our event is an effort to help slow down the spread of the COVID-19 virus and to protect the most vulnerable portion of our population. Click here for a good article on why cancelling or postponing events can help.
We recognize that many of you have put months and months of effort into your training and this is a great disappointment and frustration. While we recognize runners in general are a very healthy demographic and not likely to incur serious consequences from the virus we must consider the hundreds of volunteers, support staff as well as the friends and family members of participants that could ultimately be effected. In addition a significant number of medical personnel are required to support the race and as rapidly as COVID-19 cases are being diagnosed and the situation is developing their services will be required elsewhere on our race day.
We are working hard to give you are many options for your registration as possible.
The available options available are:
In order to select one of these options sign in to your RunSignUp account, click on your profile (the round circle in the corner), then scroll down to the Tomoka Marathon and click on manage registration next to the event. That will take you directly to the manage registration page for the Tomoka Marathon.
Options will remain open until March 21st to give you time to research and make decisions. There may be some technology issues as this is a new process for the registration platform. If you have difficulty getting into your account or choosing an option or are one of our participants that was directly affected by the International Travel Ban, please contact us directly.
